Hawaii County EFCU (HCEFCU) was chartered in 1936 and has served the financial needs of its membership for over six decades. It is a cooperative financial institution comprised of people sharing a common bond, i.e, employees of Hawaii County and their families. As a non-profit, members-owned institution that thrives on volunteerism, the credit union's primary purposes are to provide credit for its members at lower rates, and to provide a safe place for its members to save while earning a better return.
Members elect a Board of Directors, a group of unpaid volunteers, who establish the policies that guide the direction of the credit union. A paid, professional staff under the direction of a President or General Manager, assures that the policy directives are carried out.
